Available on iOS only. To change your Air Quality calculation method, go to Atmotube PRO 2 App -> Settings -> Units -> Select air quality index.
In the 1.8 iOS app version, we added support for multiple Air Quality Index standards used around the world. This allows you to view air quality using the methodology relevant to your region or project.
What is an Air Quality Index?
Air quality indices are standardized indicators designed to translate raw sensor data (e.g. PM, gases) into a simple scale (e.g. 0–500 or 0–100) that reflects health risk.
Supported Air Quality Indices
You can now choose between the following indices:
Why AQI is mostly based on PM
Although some indices include gases (NO₂, O₃, CO), in practice:
PM2.5 is the dominant pollutant in most AQI calculations
The final AQI is usually determined by the worst (highest) pollutant level
This is why AQI often closely follows PM trends.
Important Notes
Different indices use different averaging periods and pollutants
The same environment may produce different AQI values depending on the selected standard
AQI is designed for health communication, not raw measurement comparison
For real-time analysis, we recommend using:
PM values directly
or AQS (Atmotube Air Quality Score).
